Art Story | Her Name is Wildflower (Song of Songs 1:14)

“…My beloved is a bouquet of wildflowers picked just for Me…” – Song of Songs 1:14

This painting is one of a series of mixed-media features called Paper Dolls. Paper Dolls are figures drawn onto watercolor paper and then dressed up with acrylic paints before being fixed to an acrylic background on canvas.

In 2009 a team of prophetic ministers shared that God said Michelle is a wildflower. Michelle despised that word thinking Wildflowers while beautiful from a distance typically are damaged with missing leaves and bent stems. But as God began to teach her what a wildflower is she realized that wildflowers declare God’s glory by their existence. God showed her that wildflowers grow in untenable climates and they grow best uncultivated.

The fact that wildflowers grow in unlikely places and can often be found growing in rocks. And more recently God has reminded Michelle that when you happen upon a bunch of wildflowers growing in a field – they create a beautiful landscape.

Michelle’s personal grief testimony flavors this piece as it followed after 7 years after she and her family suffered the unbearable grief of losing her oldest child in a car accident. God faithfully walked with her through the loss and pain and brought her to a place of joy, peace, and hope again. Her living testimony is you can get through anything with God. He healed her pain and anguish after losing her son. He truly stripped her of mourning bands and decked her out in the glorious praise of wildflowers.

Michelle draws her inspiration in art from her time connecting to God’s heart through intimacy, devotion, and prayer. She lives to help others connect to His heart through creative expression.
