Art Story | Soul Surrender (Micah 7:19)

“God will again have compassion on us, And will subdue our iniquities. You will cast all our sins Into the depths of the sea.” – Micah 7:19 NKJV

This painting is one of a series of mixed-media features called Paper Dolls. Paper Dolls are figures drawn onto watercolor paper and then dressed up with acrylic paints before being fixed to an acrylic background on canvas.

Soul Surrender came to life on a summer evening when Michelle accepted an invitation to sketch and pray during a Bible study meeting called Mending the Soul. Sitting among the women in attendance that evening, she sensed the Lord exchanging the pain they carried and the sins they had hidden away for His loving grace. As they did, He sang over them, hearts laid bare; he cast it all into the sea, setting them free to receive His glorious embrace as they surrendered in worship, face-to-face.

Michelle draws her inspiration in art from her time connecting to God’s heart through worship, intimate devotion, and prayer. She lives to help others connect to His heart through creative expression.
